Community Guidelines

Vote iQ encourages you to discuss the issues you care about and to connect with the candidates, fellow citizens, and causes that move you. We want our community to be a place where members with all kinds of views, ideas, and concerns can share information and interact with one another.

Please review the following guidelines regarding your responsibilities to the community. When you use Vote iQ, you agree to abide by these community guidelines, as well as by our Terms of Use.

What To Do:

Introduce Yourself to the Community
Fill out your profile and get started! Upload your photo, find which politicians you match, connect with your friends, poke around and participate.

Play Nice
It's okay to disagree with others, but insulting individuals is not okay. Please don't post or share comments or other content that includes obscenities, personal insults, threats, ethnic slurs, or other disparaging, offensive, hateful, or derogatory language. No bullies on our block!

Also, while we believe users should be able to express themselves and their point of view, certain kinds of speech simply don’t belong in a community like Vote iQ. So, please, no content that is obscene, profane, pornographic or sexually explicit, or that depicts graphic or gratuitous violence.

Protect Your Privacy and the Privacy of Others
Comments and content shared on Vote iQ may be visible to the general public. Sharing personal information such as email addresses, telephone numbers, or street addresses can make you susceptible to—gasp—spam and unauthorized communication. Use your Privacy Settings to determine the information you share with others. Note that Vote iQ will not verify personal information that is posted by others. If you share or collect information about others, please be sure to respect their privacy and get consent for any pictures, videos, and other personal information you post about them on Vote iQ. If in question, read Vote iQ's Privacy Policy.

Give Credit Where Credit is Due
We encourage you to provide valuable content and links to other online resources, but please respect the copyrights, trademarks, and other rights of third parties. Secure any necessary permission from the applicable rights holders before posting or sharing any third party content on Vote iQ. Oh, and just to be clear, there’s no implication that links and content posted by our members are endorsed in any way by Vote iQ.

We encourage the enthusiastic discussion of issues that matter to our members. If you think that content or conduct on the site violates these Community Guidelines or the Terms of Use, you can report the violation to Vote iQ via the Report Abuse link that’s available at the bottom of every page. Please don’t use the Report Abuse link to report posts with which you personally disagree or posters whom you find offensive. Similarly, if you believe that anything on the site infringes your copyright, please file a notification of infringement with our Designated Agent as described in our Terms of Use rather than using the Report Abuse link.

Finally... Participate Often
We want to hear your ideas. Join a group; volunteer for a cause; start a debate; invite your friends; give a shout out to an upcoming event. Let’s use the synergy of our online community to improve politics and our society!

What Not To Do:

Break Any Laws or Harm Others
Don’t post or share any content or engage in any conduct that 1) violates or encourages others to violate any applicable law rule or regulation; 2) creates any harm to other users or to Vote iQ; or 3) interferes with the ability of others to enjoy the site. Obviously, this includes engaging in any harassing, predatory, stalking, or other harmful activity. Please don’t freak out or hurt our community.

Use the Site to Promote Your Product or Business
Vote iQ is not your medium for sending spam or other unauthorized messages involving advertising, promotions, chain letters, or pyramid schemes. We all hate that.

Misrepresent Yourself
We like you! We really, really like you, so please don’t post false or misleading information, impersonate any person or entity, or otherwise misrepresent yourself, your age, or your affiliation with any person or entity. Use of manual or automated software or other processes to do any of the above is also prohibited. Be yourself.

Violations
Although Vote iQ has no obligation to screen, edit, monitor, or remove content posted on the site, Vote iQ reserves the right to delete any content at any time at its sole discretion with or without notice. Failure to adhere to these community guidelines may result, among other things, in suspension or termination of your account or your ability to post content, with or without notice, as determined by Vote iQ at its sole discretion.

Enforcement of these community guidelines and the other rules set forth in the Terms of Use is solely at the discretion of Vote iQ, and failure to enforce such rules in some instances does not constitute a waiver of its right to enforce such rules in other instances. In addition, these rules do not create any private right of action on the part of any user or third party or any reasonable expectation that the site will not contain content that is prohibited by these community guidelines or the Terms of Use.

We’ve crafted these guidelines to ensure that all users within the Vote iQ community have a positive experience. It’s important that you understand the importance of responsible participation. If you ever have any questions, comments, or suggestions, we'd love to hear from you. The best way to reach us is through our Feedback form.
